Your public speaking confidence is establsihed by your inner voice
The overwhelming majority of people would like to improve their public speaking confidence.
Am I right?
But mastering public speaking can sometimes be fearful.
Most of us are routinely overcome with fear when wehave to speak publicly and that fear is cause by our own lack of confidence.
And that confidence drainer is our own tiny voice inside our heads.
You know the one. That inner voice inside your head which tells you off or stops you trying something new or reminds you to call somebody or tells you to have some chocolate!
So what does your inner voice say when you’re getting ready to go onto the stage and publicly speak?
Does it say This is gong to be a thrill i can’t wait to start or does it say You cannot do this you are going to look so foolish.
Which one? Honestly?
How frequently has your inner voice stopped you trying something new?
How frequently do you let your inner voice talk you out of doing something?
Now imagine if your inner voice, which is stopping you moving forward, was a real person with a real voice. So you are just about to give a presentation to an audience made up of a hundred senior staff and your best mate announces, you are going to mess this one up. You are going to forget your words, you are going to be tongue-tied.
Somebody will raise a question and you won’t know the answer . Donot do it, it is not worth the suffering or discomfort.
How’s that make you feel? Your best mate has just ridiculed you. Tell me, they wouldnot be your best mate for long, if they really did that.
That’s exactly what you are permitting your own inner voice to do to you every single day.
Why?
You are in control. In fact, just listen to your inner voice for the subsequent hour and see how many negatives things it is enlightening you. Jot down a note of them put them down.
You will be amazed how many times your inner voice is enlightening you negative things.
You must stop the negative comments now.
You must turn them around and make your inner voice talk to you in a positive way.
Next time you are about to go on stage, let your voice say to you :
The audience is going to love you. You’re going to be funny, suave, engaging. You are going to wow the crowd with your knowledge.
By controlling your inner voice and making it positive, it can only improve your public speaking confidence.
