Move House by Yourself
Have you decided to move on your own? In this article we are going to talk about the steps of moving yourself.
Moving home is Stressful, so let’s look at that before we go any further.
Some people become considerably stressed during a move. Whilst others can handle the stress easily. A normally happy cheerful person can get stressed, so it’s nothing to do with your disposition.
Clear steps to help make the move less stressful:
1. Take Advantage of Moving Equipment when having to move innumerable of items, it is not such a bad idea to invest in few inexpensive moving supplies that can help manage your move more easily. When you have established a moving date, collect boxes, paper (printed paper stains, so try to avoid), plastic boxes, bubble wrap and maybe some old blankets.
2. Packing up your belongings takes a lot of time, start the packing early. Don’t try and squash all your packing into the last few days or even the night before. It’s a great idea to make sure all the packing is done at least 24 hours before you move home, this allows you time to pack all those last minute possessions. Start off by packing those possessions you are not going to want or need until you get to your new house; such as DVD’s and kitchen gadgets. The more things you pack in advance, the less you have to worry about.
3. Disposal moving home is a great way to get rid of old useless things you always kept because you thought you may need them later. Old magazines, clothing, bits and bobs and ornaments which are stuck in the cupboard can be disposed of so you have a jumble free home. Charities appreciate donations so you could consider giving them away, or even do a jumble sale.
4. Keep a list - this is one of the most crucial things to remember when you are moving home yourself. Make a list for everything, list of things you need to buy, list of possessions that you do not need or want to give away before the move, list of delicate items that need to be handled with care at all times and finally a list of every object you’re moving. By keeping a list and marking off things as they are completed is a great way to keep you focused and less stressed on the day you move.
Moving Day Preparations
Don’t hesitate to ask your family members, friends or team mates to help you packing and unloading your car/truck. You will be very amazed how much more speedily the moving goes with few extra hands. When the moving day turns up, arrange a party and offer sandwiches or pizza and drinks to anyone who decides to come and work. Keeping people relaxed and well fed, means they will be happier and more willing to put in that extra time. A separate concern of yours should be your little ones. See if you can get a member of your family to take your kids away for the day so they are not in the way. Do allow them to see their rooms being packed and let them keep few of their toys to play with during the moving day. The same goes for your pet, try and find a friend who will take care of it on the moving day. Lots of animals can get travel sick, so make sure you take care when moving them. Anything you may need for your animal, such as water and feeding bowls, need to be packed in a bag marked ‘Pet’ and easy got to when you arrive. Don’t leave your animal alone in the car when moving. Allow frequent breaks so your animal can relieve themselves and make sure they are always on a tether.
Make sure you search for a great Truck Hire for Moving
To transport all your items, you will probably need to hire a truck, as most of us will find our cars are just not spacious enough. Van hire experience is to a great extent dependent on you. When renting a truck make sure you take note of the following:
1. Mass is the most crucial factor when choosing a truck to rent. Make sure you give yourself a margin of up to 15% more space than you think you need. This extra space makes sure you have enough room and are not left with belongings that don’t fit in. Additional room is preferable than not enough.
2. Don’t be tricked into thinking all costs are the same, with so many businesses out there you would think they would be, wouldn’t you? Regrettably, that is not correct. Compare prices from different businesses; ask neighbours for recommendations, ring companies and use the net to search.
3. Hiring a truck or a car is a very parallel experience. Reserve your truck ahead of time so you don’t get stuck with one that doesn’t suit your demands. That way, your truck will be ready for you the day you move home.
4. Another thing to think about is insurance, it is a good idea to purchase your own insurance. There is many things dissimilar between driving a large vehicle and driving a small car. Cost of repairing a hire vehicle if you make a mistake could be very pricey. A couple extra minutes finding the insurance and few more dollars will ensure you a stress-free move.
5. When renting a truck for a day or two make sure you give yourself plenty of time to load, drive to your new property and unload it before it needs to be returned. The motive for doing this is that you don’t want to return it late. Late returns can turn out to be very pricey as rental firms charge large fees for this.
Tips for moving your car.
If you are one of the lucky families fortunate to have a second family car, then you need to look at how you are going to transport it. Shipping, towing or putting it on a trailer are just a few ways of moving a second vehicle. If the cost of moving it is more expensive than the family car is worth, then think about selling it before you go. Before you decide to tow your vehicle, read the manual to stop any unnecessary accidents from happening and make sure your first vehicle is capable of towing a secondary vehicle with ease. Any vehicles that are not the ‘norm’ such as boats and trailers will probably need special equipment if they are too be towed. Call the dealer who sold you the item if you are unsure on the correct procedures or search the net.
